Soaking It All In

Little feet scurry out to the dock
Shrills of delight as fish finally swallow the bait
Coffee and conversations with Nana as the morning sunlight kisses the water
White foam dances across the horizon
Sounds of crashing thunder soothe my hurried mind
The cool sand cushions my tired feet
Long-awaited together time
Laughter echoes in the background as memories are created and rehearsed
Tables full of nourishment for body and soul
A cool breeze brushes against my face as the warm sun settles into its home
One last swim as the day dwindles
Pelicans soar, seemingly weightless, while crickets begin their nightly song
The beauty of summer and the blessing of family on full display
